What does benchmark research cost?

Concrete amounts instead of 'it depends'. This is how the price of benchmark research is built up.

What does benchmark research cost?

What the costs consist of

Every benchmark study has four cost components: designing a good questionnaire, recruiting participants, analysing the answers and reporting. In a classic, fully outsourced programme, every report is manual work. As a result, a single measurement at an agency quickly runs into thousands to tens of thousands of euros, and you pay that amount again at the next measurement.

The software model

Benchmark software automates the most expensive part: the personal reports. With BenchLab you pay a fixed monthly fee. Starter costs €99 per month and is meant for getting started, with 100 benchmark reports per month. Professional costs €549 per month, with unlimited reports, a research page in your own brand style and full integrations. Partner costs €999 per month and is for research and consulting agencies that want to deliver white-label benchmark reports to their own clients.

The AI add-on, which automatically writes personal conclusions and recommendations for you and your respondents, costs an additional €99 per month.

One-off costs

Never done benchmark research before? For a one-off €2,900, a partner research agency sets up a complete study together with you: two working sessions, an introduction and a full question set, ready to use. After that you manage and refine everything yourself. If you want to turn the results into articles and posts, content creation can be added for €250 per month.

What determines the price

The main factors are the number of participants and reports, the integrations you need with your existing systems, and the question of who does the work: your own team or an agency. The questionnaire itself does not need to be large; the best benchmark studies can be completed in ten minutes.

Outsource or do it yourself

For a one-off measurement, a fully outsourced programme can be a good fit. As soon as research becomes recurring, or part of your commercial approach, software pays for itself quickly. Producing a hundred personal reports manually takes weeks; with benchmark software they are ready the moment someone completes the questionnaire, in your brand style, and can be regenerated at any time with up-to-date data.

What it delivers

Costs are one side of the equation. Every personal report is also a natural trigger for a conversation. To illustrate: in a benchmark study that IT service provider Wortell runs with BenchLab, more than 200 decision-makers were added to the network and almost every report was followed up with an appointment. Research stops being a cost item and becomes a source of conversations.
